Solicitude

Robin in Early Spring ©2008 Terry Gorley

Solicitude

A fantasy of frivolous thinking,
Fragmented thoughts
Inspired by imprinted pictures;
Memories,
Clear as the bluest sky,
Cloudy as an English day,
Obscure in their reality;
A mirage
To contemplate,
To complicate,
To corner a feeling,
To drown in
Or a simple place to hide ...
To seek ... to find ... to understand
You.
Terry Gorley~
Life is a JourneyAs we know Life is a journey. We also know it has it's peaks and valleys with mystery around each corner. We all have hopes, needs and desires. We all have our share of happiness and heartache. We have our losses and our gains.

My Life has been about finding myself. I believe ultimately, that is what all of us are looking for. We know true happiness comes from within and I believe once you find yourself ... your true purpose in Life ... happiness follows.

Where you are in Life often has to do with age. The older you get the more peaks you will have climbed and descended. The more corners you will have navigated. You may find yourself going in one direction then another. You don't know why and you don't know where you will end up. Wherever it is that is your Destiny.

You have choices ... you make mistakes ... there are consequences ... that is Life.

You are here to learn ... grow ... live and die ... that is Life. Living Life to the best of your ability ... doing whatever it is that brings you to your place of Peace & Tranquility ... where you know without a doubt this is YOU ... this is your place ... your Destiny ... your Life!

For Love of Body

Bird in the Willows ©2007 Terry Gorley

Yesterday, I was introduced to EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques) when I attended a FREE WIN Network Event. What I didn't know was that I had a previous introduction when I listened to an interview several months ago through Healthy Wealthy n Wise. It was a wonderful refresher!

If you are like me and interested in natural healing techniques, you will want to visit www.emofree.com where you will find a lot of FREE information.

This quote by Eric Robins, MD captures the essence of EFT:"Some day the medical profession will wake up and realize that unresolved emotional issues are the main cause of 85% of all illnesses. When they do, EFT will be one of their primary healing tools .... as it is for me." ~Eric Robins, MD~

As you celebrate this Valentine's Day, I urge you ... Love Yourself ... Love Your Body

Post updated May 1, 2012 - I have been consistently using EFT for more than 2 weeks with amazing results! For more information on EFT please visit TheTappingSolution.com

Valentines & Candles

Watchful Magpie ©2008 Terry Gorley

I've chosen this Magpie for my photo because being a scavenger, it represents the preconceived notions of what is acceptable in society. When you look beyond to see the beauty ... that is Love!

Tomorrow is Valentine's Day ... a day, thanks to Cupid for love and romance. We most often think of chocolate, flowers and hearts. I'm thinking about candles.

Candles are a symbol of Enlightment. How do you view love? Do you give it unconditionally? Do you accept love without question?

What about Love in the grander scheme of things? World Peace & Love. The acceptance of others ... regardless of Gender, Ethnicity, Country of Origin, Religion, Age, Spirituality, or Social Status

What about Justice & Freedom as written and proposed by
Raphael Louis?

Global peace shall come not as a wave of light but as a singular candle flickering and holding off the night of violence. As more households are joined in the effort other homes will also have a candle flickering in their windows. One candle cannot defeat the darkness. Many candles can. Let the candle be our symbol. Let its light illuminate humanity in time.

~Mr Prophet~Mr Prophet Quotes

A candle loses nothing by lighting another candle.

Law of Garbage Trucks

Red-headed Woodpecker ©2007 Terry Gorley

My good Friend, William Strong shared this with me. I loved it and thought I would share it with you!

One day I hopped in a taxi and we took off for the airport. We were driving in the right lane when suddenly a black car jumped out of a parking space right in front of us.

My taxi driver slammed on his brakes, skidded, and missed the other car by just inches! The driver of the other car whipped his head around and started yelling at us.

My taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was really friendly. So I asked, 'Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and sent us to the hospital!

'This is when my taxi driver taught me what I now call, 'The Law of the Garbage Truck.' He explained that many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage, full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it and sometimes they'll dump it on you.

Don't take it personally. Just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on. Don't take their garbage and spread it to other people at work, at home, or on the streets.

The bottom line is that successful people do not let garbage trucks take over their day.

Life's too short to wake up in the morning with regrets, so...
Love the people who treat you right.
Pray for the ones who don't.
Life is ten percent what you make it and ninety percent how you take it!

7 Principals for Success

Big Bubbles ©2007 Terry Gorley
What Are The 7 Principals For Success?

This is what I learned from Rob & Ray

7 Principals For Success are:

1 Purpose
2 Possibility Thinking
3 Enthusiasm
4 Integrity
5 Persistance
6 Out Flowing
7 Creating

Purpose
Your purpose must be bigger than you. If its just about the money you won't likely succeed. You must think beyond you ... What can I do to make a difference? ... How can I help others achieve their hopes, dreams & desires

If you could live life with no regrets, "What would it be?"

What you put your mind on is what you create. We've been hearing a lot of about this lately with "The Secret" ... its the Law of Attraction

Possibility Thinking
Have something that draws out the best in you.
Singlemindedness
What would you give your life to?

Enthusiasm & Integrity
Live the life you love
Living the life you said you were going to (integrity)
Look at the unfinished business in your life and finish it: complete relationships, clean your closet, refrigerator, medicine cabinet ... get rid of the clutter!!!

Persistance
Persist even in the face of failure
Knowing your purpose allows yo to be persistant

Outflowing
Think of a successful person you admire ... What is it you admire about them? How do they impact you?

What creates your energy & excitement?
Be a person who makes something happen

Creating
What value can you add that nobody else can?
Create your own value

Practice & Live the Principals
Don't complain
Say, "Thank you" to the Universe for the small things that happen to you ... find a penny ... say "Thank you!"

Remember:
Unleash your own unique talents
Regrets are most about what you didn't do
Experience is the best teacher ... Learn by experience

About Roads

Checkered Backroad ©2008 Terry Gorley

Did you ever wonder why you took a particular road? Whether it was the high road or the low road. Why you went straight ahead or turned at a particular intersection? Why you took a detour and then backtracked? Interesting isn't it, but it really doesn't matter. All that matters is that you are where you are right now and its EXACTLY where you are supposed to be.

When the road is bumpy
And you feel like 'ell,
Just grit your teeth,
And say, "Oh well!"
You have determination,
You know persistance pays,
You know success is yours
When you keep your goals in sight,
ALWAYS!

Appreciating Differences

A Rose Among the Marigolds ©2007 Terry Gorley

Last evening, I had the privilege of attending the Rankin Family Concert. It was a wonderful 2 1/2 hours of toe tapping, heartwarming down to earth music.

I was seated next to a physically handicapped young lady, who was an obvious huge fan of the Rankins. She clapped loudly and swayed to the music throughout the performance. What I noticed was that she didn't clap in time to the music. She had absolutely no sense of rhythm, but it didn't stop her from allowing the magic of the moment and the music to come to her and touch her heart. I'm sure it will be an evening she will never forget.

What it reminds me is that we all hear the music in different ways. We all dance to a different beat whether its to music or Life in general. Its what makes us unique. Its what makes us Human Beings.
Today, I will leave you with these thoughts:

I am a unique individual.
I will take a moment to appreciate my uniqueness.
I will take a moment to appreciate the uniqueness of others.
I appreciate who I am and I appreciate others for who they are.
When I show Appreciation and Gratitude
for myself and others
the world
becomes a beautiful, peaceful place to dwell.

About Disabilities

Perturbed Robin ©2008 Terry Gorley

Recently, I read about Oscar.
What an incredible young man he is!

“You’ll never progress if your mind is on your disability”
~Oscar Pistorius~

Due to a serious congentital leg and foot defect, Oscar's legs were removed when he was 11 months old. That was in 1986. As of 2008, he is known as the the Blade Runner and is "the fastest man on no legs." Oscar says, "I'm not disabled, I just don't have any legs."

Just as Oscar doesn't see his limitations as a disability, you shouldn't either. Remember the only limitations we have are those we place on ourselves.

Today, I urge you to be creative ... stretch your imagination ... reach for the stars ... know there are no limits to what you can achieve ... all it takes is patience ... persistance ... passion ... Faith & action ... Dare to be the BEST that you can be!

Wealth, Success & Love

Three In A Tree ©2008 Terry Gorley

This is one of my favorite short stories ... I hope you enjoy it too. Open your heart to Love and the Power it has to bring wealth & success into your life

Wealth, Success, and Love
~Author Unknown~

A woman came out of her house and saw 3 old men with long
white beards sitting in her front yard. She did not recognize
them.

She said "I don't think I know you, but you must be hungry.
Please come in and have something to eat." Is the man of the
house home?", they asked.

"No", she said. "He's out." "Then we cannot come in," they
replied.

In the evening when her husband came home, she told him what
had happened. "Go tell them I am home and invite them in!" The
woman went out and invited the men in.

"We do not go into a house together," they replied.

"Why is that?" she wanted to know.

One of the old men explained: "His name is Wealth," he said
pointing to one of his friends, and said pointing to another
one, "He is Success, and I am Love." Then he added, "Now go
in and discuss with your husband which one of us you want in
your home."

The woman went in and told her husband what was said. Her
husband was overjoyed. "How nice!!," he said. "Since that is
the case, let us invite Wealth. Let him come and fill our home
with wealth!"

His wife disagreed. "My dear, why don't we invite Success?"
Their daughter-in-law was listening from the other corner of
the house. She jumped in with her own suggestion: "Would it
not be better to invite Love? Our home will then be filled
with love!"

"Let us heed our daughter-in-law's advice," said the husband
to his wife. "Go out and invite Love to be our guest."

The woman went out and asked the 3 old men, "Which one of you
is Love? Please come in and be our guest."

Love got up and started walking toward the house. The other 2
also got up and followed him. Surprised, the lady asked Wealth
and Success:

"I only invited Love, Why are you coming in?" The old men
replied together: "If you had invited Wealth or Success, the
other two of us would've stayed out, but since you invited
Love, wherever He goes, we go with him. Wherever there is Love,
there is also Wealth and Success!"

Experiencing Life

Magpie in Flight ©2007 Terry Gorley

Today, I chose this quote to share with you

Cynthia Kersey of the Unstoppable Foundations writes: ". . . you can choose to be like too many others who trudge through life in a state of endurance, missing most of what they experience. Such people observe life but don't experience its pleasure. If life were a symphony, they would hear the notes, but miss the genius behind the composition. If life were a rare gem, they would see the color, but pay no attention to the intricacies of the cut."

Are you missing the experience of Life?

Do you observe without experiencing the pleasures?

Learning To Drive

Snow Laden Trees ©2007 Terry Gorley

This week I took my Grandmother on our monthly outing to do her monthly banking, shoppping, etc. We travel north about three quarters of an hour to the community she lived in for more than fifty years.

The previous day it had snowed more than ten inches. The landscape was pristeen in its purity. As I glanced across a field all laden in white, I commented how much fun it would be to be snowmobiling in that field. We laughed and remembered the fun times we had shared in the past.

As I reflected on those times, I recalled the first time I was allowed to drive a snowmobile. I was probably twelve or thirteen years old. I drove around the open field for awhile then it was time to stop. Not having a whole lot of sense or control, I came inches from hitting a tree.

When I was fifteen, my Dad thought I could use some driving lessons since I would be able to get my driver's license the following year. With good sense he knew I would need time to practise. We climbed in ... he gave me instructions ... I drove the truck ... right through the barbed wire fence. That was the end of my lessons. I didn't get my license until I was thirty-two.

We learn and grow at our own pace. Each failure teaches us a Life Lesson in preparation for the next step on the journey to our Destiny.

About Stillness

Magpie in the Stillness of a Winter Day ©2007 Terry Gorley

I wrote "Sanctuary," January 24, 1997. That I recall it was the first time I had ever experienced what stillness really meant. It was a magical moment of complete self-awareness.
I hope you will take a moment to feel complete stillness. To appreciate a quiet mind ... to be at one with the space around you.
Recently, I caught an episode of Oprah Winfrey. She suggested beginning with 1 minute each day for a month and then adding another minute the following month until you have gone through the 12 months ending up with 12 minutes each day to feel the Stillness in the silence of an empty mind.

Sanctuary

Protection in the darkness
Engulfed by the silence of the black
No light to intrude on the solitude
Blinded by nothingness
Acuteness of feeling
Perceptive
The body and the black as one.
The body alone a lifeless form
But for the breath that says, "I'm alive!"
In the darkness
In the silence
In the solitude
Protected by the darkness
"I'm alive!"

Understanding Yourself

Beaver Lake ©2007 Terry Gorley
Do you understand yourself?
Why you behave and think the way you do?

Have you ever sat in complete stillness and allowed yourself to just feel nothing?
To have a clear mind

Its an amazing exercise that will provide answers to whatever questions regarding your life that you may have. It will give you a path to follow in finding all the answers you need to finding solutions to problems ... to living the Life of your Dreams ... whatever your Dream

One of my favorite healers is Dee Wallace. You may know her as the actress who played the Mom in the movie, "ET The Extraterrestrial." From her I learned "I know that I know." That the consciousness knows everything ... that the answers are always within

Understanding yourself is like sunshine on water ...
the brighter it shines the more it reflects ...
the more it relfects ...
the brighter the sparkle!
